Spelling & grammar

Posted on Sun Feb 6th, 2011 @ 6:45am by Chief Warrant Officer Akina Jrez

We have a good group here who have really good writing skills but things like spelling and grammar are not what they could be.

It's probably a lot of things. Maybe it's time pressures which preclude going over a ppst; Maybe its not being able to proofread consistently - it's a hard learnt skill. Frankly, I don't care what the reason is. The point is that we do well on the writing side but if we improved our - for want of better word, presentation - we could be a site which really made it's mark on the Task Force.

Some of the posts which have gone up recently have been, quite frankly, woeful. If I was in another simm and reading here for enjoyment, I'd probably go elsewhere.

So, rather than whinge, I'd like to offer my services. Before posting, I'd like you to send me the draft to proof read. That way I can discuss any contextual problems that might arise. I don't want to 'correct' something only to find that I've changed what the post is trying to say.

This is NOT compulsory on anyone so if you're in a JP and thinking of taking my offer up then I suggest you discuss it with your fellow writers. I know that some people do not like having their work criticised.

Remember, this is all meant in good faith, not as a whinge. Please accept it as such.

Cheers,

Alastair
