Personal History "Geeks are often sterotyped as being glued to a computer for days at a time with few if any social skills and a disinclination to bathe." Robert resented the bit about not bathing. He spent most of his teenage years in small dark rooms surrounded by computers in varying states of assembly and techno toys - lots of techno toys. It was inevitable that Rob would have some kind of career in Information Technology.

Robert Mugford was born in Adelaide South Australia. His father was in Starfleet and was therefore away from the family for long periods of time, leaving his mother with the sole responsibility with raising their family - Margaret was not a fan of starships, wanting to raise her family on terra firma.

While at high school, he began to design and build his own computer systems and networks with his small circle of friends. It was his best friend Katherine Clarke, who got him interested in space exploration.

While studying at Flinders University, Robert developed an interest in network management and communications along with his primary studies in computer engineering and after graduation he entered Starfleet Academy along with Katherine. Here, Robert began to lose his hesitance about strangers and began to interact heartily with Academy life, he had found people who had similar ideas and interests. And through all of this Katherine was his constant companion; people always assumed that they were an item but Katherine had always thought of him as a brother. And he never pushed the issue - though he would have liked to.

After graduation, Robert was assigned to the USS Monash and Katherine was asked to stay on at Starfleet Academy as a research assistant. They correspond regularly but Robert has not seen her since he left the Academy.
