Hopefully not the final word

Posted on Tue Aug 3rd, 2010 @ 5:07am by Chief Warrant Officer Akina Jrez

This personal log is being dictated on-the-run as I’ll soon be beaming over the a Borg Cube.
Thalal, this log entry is for you to explain why I’m doing what might seem to be the most stupid act of a life which has been littered with stupid acts.
There are rogues aboard the Cube or, at least, someone has contacted the station purporting to be a rogue. They’ve offered to hand the Cube over to us. It could be a trap but I’m willing to take that risk.
Thalal, dearest Thalal, I have to do this. Imagine the information we could collect. Here’s a chance to see a Cube in operation from the inside. We can get a guided tour; we can collect technology utterly unknown to us; we can even – well, we might be able to – turn the Cube against the Collective. I can’t pass this opportunity up.
Anyway, if it is a trap, what are our chances of coming out the other side alive and intact? We’re still trying to get DS7 up and running. Most systems are on-line but I’d hate to put them under pressure. If we can help these rogues take control of the ship it might be our best chance for surviving this encounter.
When you read this, just ask yourself – what would I do? You’d be over there like a shot. I know...you’re Security and that’s your job whereas I’m only a Science Officer. But my job is to study science, including alien technology and, right now, the best place to do so is on that Cube. I might never get an opportunity like this again.
I have to go. We’re ready to beam out. I love you Thalal zh’Simal. Thank you for some wonderful times. Hopefully I’ll still be around when you read this.
