Mission: All Souls Descend. Season 2, Episode 6
Location: Sector 10265
Timeline: 9 days after leaving Spacedock

Sara finished typing her letter and after rereading it for the umpteenth time she took a moment to sign it, it was the right choice both for her and for Starfleet but there was still something about saying goodbye to something she had invested so much time and effort in. "Computer, save letter Lam four-two and transmit to recipient when ready." The soft chirp of acknowledgement letting her know it was done, there was no going back now.

Before Lam could ponder upon her decision yet another hail came in but this one was from close by, checking the transponder ID it seemed to be an old Miranda class, probably a fleet support vessel. "This is Commander Sara Lam aboard the runabout Manzanar, how can I assist you?" Sara holding back from asking 'what the heck do you want?, the frequency of hails becoming almost ridiculous.

The image however that greeted her was of a Denobulan officer, something of a rarity but their good nature told her the very reason he called, "my name is Commander Jirex of the starship Tempest, we detected your craft yesterday morning and you seem to be on a parallel course I thought it only prudent to offer you transport, if anything it'll save fuel and you can have some company?"

"I wouldn't want to to put you out Commander, I'm taking this new runabout to Starbase 211 then on to DS7" the idea of having someone to talk to appealed to her very much, the thought of another week on her own was enough to make her head throb.

"It's no trouble at all, we're en route to Minos Korva, if we drop you again before the Keltos system you should save yourself a bit of time as well?" The stereotypical trait of optimism ever present as Jirex's good nature seemed to be the cure to her growing isolation. "That' be fantastic Commander, I'd appreciate that."

With a wide smile that only a Denobulan could do Jirex was clearly excited at the prospect of having a visitor, "we will be alongside in five minutes, I will ensure we have space for your craft and I hope you will join us for dinner this evening?"

His smile was infectious as Sara felt happy and upbeat for the first time in days, "thank you Commander, I'm looking forward to it already." As the line closed Sara suddenly realised she had best tidy up the half used cups of coffee and plates for meals, almost leaping out of her chair she raced to the aft compartment, her sense of pride in her craft coming to the fore.
