Fixing the problem

Posted on Wed Sep 11th, 2013 @ 1:56pm by Chief Warrant Officer Akina Jrez & Lieutenant Lissan zh'Zarath

Mission: http://roark.rophf.com/index.php/sim/missions/id/27
Location: Ops

Ops was its usual hive of activity. Sometimes Jrez missed being in the thick of things but, of late, he’d been quite content with the tranquility of his lab. It gave him room to think. He looked round for the new Romulan Ops officer, Lieutenant JG Nevala s'Arriufvi, but could not see her so instead he took his concerns straight to the top, Lieutenant zh’Zarath.

“Lieutenant,” he said casually. This was not a formal matter he wanted to raise so he saw no need for saluting or any of that stuff. “Has the ambient temperature risen on the station?”

Lissan walked over to a temperature control panel and checked the instruments. Now why would that happen? she thought. "You're right, it has."

“What temperature is it currently?” Jrez asked.

"32 degrees Celsius," she replied.

“I thought so.” He looked out across Ops. “You all look busy up here. Mind if I do a bit of poking around and see what I can find?”

"Go right ahead," she replied "If you need any help let me know. But let me know if you find anything."

Zh'Zarath tapped her commbadge. =^=Zh'Zarath to s'Arriufvi. Ops please, Nevala.=^=

Lieutenant JG Nevala s'Arriufvi walked into Ops and looked round for the Chief Operations Officer. "You wanted to see me, Lieutenant?"

Jrez poked his head up. “I'm checking why the temperature has gone up, Lieutenant,” he explained. “I’ll try not to get in your way.”

Jrez took the cover off a console then crawled inside. Like most Cardassian systems, creature comfort was not a strong point in its design. He pushed wires out of the way until he made a small niche for himself then got to work.

One hour and four consoles later he thought he had the answer. He stuck his head out. “Lieutenant,” he called.

Both officers turned as one as Jrez appeared.

"Did you find something interesting?" Lissan asked.

He wriggled out and sat in a more dignified pose than lying on his back with half his body hidden. “Remember that power failure we had a week ago?”

"Yes...I do remember that," s'Arriufvi replied. "I was on my duty shift in Ops at the Operations Console, Chief. The system reset itself so I gather we did not follow it up."

“It seems the system reset itself to the old Cardassian settings. That’s why it’s been hotter. They like an ambient temperature of....”

"32 Celsius?" s'Arriufvi replied with a smile. "I will run a series of tests on the system."

“Better check the back-up systems while you're at it, Lieutenant,” Jrez suggested. “I’ve manually reconfigured the settings here so we should be fine from now on but better to be safe than sorry.”

"I will run tests on all of the systems on DS12."
