Just another day

Posted on Fri Jan 3rd, 2014 @ 3:37pm by Lieutenant Lissan zh'Zarath

Mission: Trouble on the frontier
Location: Around the base

Lissan opened one eye and then gradually the other followed. It was almost time to get up but just for a few more minutes she enjoyed the silence around her. Almost immediately she had regretted staying up late with friends until it was hardly worth going to bed but she supposed that some sleep was better than none.

Feeling refreshed after a shower and some breakfast Lissan made her way to Ops. No doubt her list of things to do had grown while she had been off duty and it would more than likely grow even more by the time her duty had finished.

Ops was a hive of activity as usual, she expected no less. People were coming and going and in such a busy department it would have been odd to see someone doing nothing.

Lissan was handed a PADD and looked at the catalogue of work. She saw that comms was back on the list again, she thought that they had solved the problem two days ago.

The problem must be further back than she thought which meant another hour or two struggling through crawl spaces again until she found the glitch in the system.

“Lieutenant zh’Zarath,” Harrison said as he stepped out of his office. “Good of you to join us.”

"Sir" replied a startled Lissan "I was just..."

“If you have nothing of greater urgency, the power to the Promenade is fluctuating again. Businesses are complaining as businesses are wont to do. I have enough complaints coming from that area what with the downturn in customer traffic. I do not need more.”

Lissan looked down her list; it wasn't a priority. still, she thought, I suppose I could assign a team to the comms problem and have a look at the power failures on the Promenade. If that's what the Captain wants.

"Its most likely due to worn couplings and Cardassian sabotage," she said, "among other things. I'll see what I can do Sir, but it might take some time."

“Everything takes time if it is to be done properly,” Harrison replied. “I firmly believe in the old adage: Measure twice, cut once. If you can make sure it is fixed properly this time, I will keep the business owners off your back. If they complain, refer them to me.”

"I'll get onto it straight away Sir ." replied Lissan turning to leave.

Just another day, she thought just another day
