Silent alarm

Posted on Tue May 12th, 2015 @ 2:46am by Civilian Haqtaj Matlh & Petty Officer 1st Class Vartog

Mission: Trouble on the frontier
Location: Klingon Embassy, DS12

Haqtaj sat at her desk with her head in her hands. She wanted a fight, desperately. She hated polotics and the worst thing was... she turned out to be uncomfortably good at it.

A tiny light on a belt device began to flash. For a moment she didn't recognize it. Suddenly she leapt to her feet with a force that threw the table a yard away from her.

"VARTOG!" She bellowed grabbing her blade from the wall behind her. "To me! Enemy at the gate!"

Vartog dropped what he was doing immediately; quite literally. A PADD clattered on the floor beside him. Only one thing could make his mistress bellow like that; she was in danger.

Phaser drawn, he ran through the door to her office. Strangely, there was no-one else in there. Maybe it’s a drill, he thought, still looking around for signs of danger.

Haqtaj was on full boil, "Someone has used one of my Anti-assassin protocols. Who else knows about them, but you and I?"

“I made sure when I installed the protocols you requested that no-one else knew about them. I went to great lengths to cover my tracks.”

"Then," Haqtaj surmised, "the only person who could know about them is the current CSecO, Wolf. If he is using them he must be in immediate threat of his life."

“The station Security Chief is Lieutenant Svardberg,” Vartog pointed out. “But I think you are right, Madame. Colonel Bannister is the Executive Officer. That would give him the access privileges to find the protocols and put them to his own use.”

Haqtaj was already striding for the door, "I trust Wolf to look after himself. You find Soroya and I'll find Anna. If they are in danger, you have my permission to kill EVERYONE!"

Vartog took that permission with a grain of salt. He might be seconded to Haqtaj’s mission and he knew he would lay down his life for her without an instant’s hesitation. Even so, he was still Starfleet. The captain could give that permission but not Haqtaj.

That did not mean he could not act. He checked that the setting on his phaser was stun. Unless his life was directly threatened that would have to do.

“Commander Delrisa will likely be with the colonel at Captain Harrison’s reception for the visiting dignitaries,” he said as he fell into place two steps behind Haqtaj.

Haqtaj set off at full sprint. There is something about a 6'+ Klingon bearing weapons openly that made people get out of the way fast. Two Klingons moving that way meant they did so very quickly.
