Mission: Trouble on the frontier
Location: Captain's office

OOC: As the title implies, this is where Harrison hands the reins of DS12 over to Bannister.

Harrison noted the full length duster Bannister was wearing. Something is afoot, he thought.

He was seated in his office, preparing to sort out his papers and ensure that everything was brought up to date before he left. He anticipated it would not take long – he liked to think he ran a tight ship and stayed on top of everything – but it never hurt to be sure.

“I have something important to tell you, Colonel,” he said, “but I will not keep you any longer than absolutely necessary. Details can be skipped over; you have a much better source for those than myself.”

“I have been diagnosed with a heart complaint. I am told it requires immediate attention. After that, I will be recuperating for many weeks, perhaps even months. I will remain on board, under Commander Delrisa’s observation, for a week after the operation then I will be taking leave. I have applied to Admiral Harrison and the leave has been approved. The station will by yours in my absence.”

Wolf nodded, not doing a very good of hiding his concern though his determination is clear as he says, "I'll do everything I can to take good care of the place and her well as her citizens. If I may ask.....How serious is it, sir?"

Harrison thought for a moment. “I would have said; not at all. My heart is beating normally and I had none of the symptoms of a heart attack: no pains in the arm or tingling in the fingers or anything like that. However, Commander Delrisa assures me that it is serious indeed. I think her exact words were: ‘Most people with what you’ve got don’t survive long enough to even get to a medical facility’.”

Wolf nodded seriously and replied, "I'd say it was worth looking into then. I've found Soraya generally knows what she is talking about. I thought her record was impressive as it was before things got...more involved with us. With that being said, I think you're in good hands. Biased opinions aside, of course."

The marine paused, burying an impish but tasteful comment before switching tracks and asking, "Any special standing orders, Captain?"

Again Harrison paused to consider. He rubbed his chin while he thought. “Keep an eye on the Romulan Ambassador. Romulans always seem to have agendas of one sort or another but.... This one is playing an intricate game of some sort and I do not know what. I fear, though, that it has something to do with Admiral Waldorf. To that end, I would recommend the Admiral be kept under covert surveillance as well.

“Other than that..... No, I do not think so.”

"Already on it, Captain. Corrus and I were putting together some ideas on the Commodore Lax issues and she proved why Romulans can sometimes make lousy poker players. Good thing he's less innocent than he looks," the Lt. Colonel said with a knowing smile.
