Frustation

Posted on Thu Jan 14th, 2016 @ 9:20am by Petty Officer 1st Class Vartog

Mission: Trouble on the frontier
Location: Vartog's quarters

Vartog yawned and stretched. It had been a long night and, coming as it did on top of normal shift duty, it was leaving him drained. Drained and frustrated.

He’d been trying to hack the pirate holovid but with no success. It was written in code he was completely unfamiliar with and Vartog liked to think he was familiar with most common codes and then some. He knew it was going to be this way – he had said as much to Colonel Bannister – but that did not make the frustration any easier to bear.

He suspected the code was exotic in origin. Breen was his first guess given their increased interest in the Inconnu Expanse and likely links with anyone opposed to the Federation. He also guessed that whatever its origin, it had been heavily modified before being deployed. That would make hacking it all the more difficult. It also meant that gaining access to the codes was imperative.

“Computer, lights at fifteen percent.”

He yawned again then disrobed. The next shift was a mere two hours away; not much time for sleep but anything was better than nothing. Problem solving would have to wait for another day.
