Reunion

Posted on Mon Mar 14th, 2016 @ 2:50pm by Magnus Temple & Ensign T'ami Lo'Wen

Mission: Trouble on the frontier
Location: Shuttle Bay / Promenade

Temple had just left the Captain's office when he got the call that her ship was arriving. He paced back and forth outside the Shuttle Bay as the Star Fleet runabout made its final approach and landing. He watched impatiently as the small vessel slowly guided into dock and powered down, the Bay doors closed at an excruciatingly slow pace. It seemed slower for Magnus, at least. As soon as the crew gave him the all clear, Temple strode quickly up to the runabout, just as the passenger door opened.

In a flurry of long black hair, T'ami had pounced on the Diplomat, wrapping her furry arms around him. Temple was taken aback with surprise. He'd been anxious to see his friend and Assistant Chief but was overwhelmed by her emotional greeting.

But he realized after a moment that she was crying. Temple pushed back her hair and looked into her sorrowful yellow eyes. He was unused to seeing the normally business-like Caitian acting so tearfully.

"T'ami what's wrong?" He asked.

"It was horrible." She replied softly. "Before I left the Vanguard... That rogue got loose and he... came at me... He was like an animal... he almost...." She disolved into tears again.

Magnus held his friend tightly but couldn't help but feel a strong chill of guilt. "It's my fault, I'm sorry. I should have stayed until he was gone."

T'ami shook her head, "No, the Marines weren't watching. They were too busy arguing amongst themselves until it happened. I don't blame you, Magnus." She looked him square in the eye. "I don't."

"I'm still sorry," He replied earnestly. "And I'm so glad you weren't hurt."

The two friends held each other for several minutes. Despite what T'ami had said, Magnus still felt responsible. He'd left the Vanguard before the mission was complete and that rogue was safely delivered to prison. And he was furious at the Marines for letting this happen.

Finally a crew member was forced to ask the two to move along as the runabout was due to depart again. The Dane and the Caitian laughed sheepishly as they walked out.

"I'm glad you're here," He said as they strolled towards the promenade. "People here have been great, don't get me wrong, but I can already tell life on DS12 is a whole bigger deal."

T'ami managed a laugh, "Is it really so different then a starship?"

As she said this, they entered the Promenade, T'ami getting her first look at the expansive, bustling space station. Star Fleet officers, businesses, travellers, traders, UFP officials, so many people walking around. T'ami's eyes widened with excitement. She wiped her cheeks and left Magnus' side, whirling around to take it all in.

"Wow." She exclaimed.

"I know."

"I mean... wow."

"I know."

She spun around looking from business to business, smiling at the passers by. Magnus watched his friend with glee.

"There's so much life here," She smiled.

"We have three stationed embassies," He replied, "Romulan, Klingon, and Cardassian. Well, four if you count us."

"We have an embassy?" She asked, still looking around.

"Yes, we're not Star Fleet here. We're civilian Ambassadors for the United Federation of Planets."

"Wow."

"I know."

T'ami's smile was infectious, Magnus was used to dealing with her formality and professionalism, hence why he wanted her for DS12. But to T'ami this was also an escape from the horrible incident onboard the Vanguard and she wouldn't have to live every day with those memories, or the people she believed caused it. So she smiled, bigger and happier then she had for a long time.

"Well Mr Ambassador," She spoke finally, "Show me your Embassy."

The two friends laughed and moved off into the station. Temple was incredibly glad to have his Assistant and friend back with him, especially knowing the problems she experienced. This would be a new start for them both.
