Mission: Trouble on the frontier
Location: DS12 Ops

Allonso sat waiting for the captain. It was only his second day doing parcel delivery. This was his first real assignment. Although it was only a letter. It was still important to him that it went through.

Harrison took the letter and was about to toss it on his desk to deal with later but something about the young man’s demeanour made him hesitate. The man looked expectant. Harrison opened the note. It was a message written in an stylish script and appeared to have been done by hand; a rarity indeed these days.

It was an invitation to a ball of some sort. “I will have to consult my schedule.” Harrison informed the man. “Do you know anything about the host?”

"No captain, just that he is a Commodore I have my guesses but I figured it was just a member of Starfleet. Our firm has been contracted out to deliver them personally to all of the invited guests, suggested dress is white tie." The delivery man was a bit nervous. "I know that only about one hundred had been sent out. I've personally delivered five of them, you, a few bar owners, a wealthy merchant, and a politician from Gaspar. Fortunately he is off world right now so I didn't have to go there."

“Indeed,” Harrison replied, nodding. “As I said, I will have to consult my schedule. Kindly inform the host that he will have my reply within days. Thank you.”

"Will do Captain, and you're welcome." The man smiled and held out his and while he cleared his throat, and looked expectantly at Harrison.

Harrison accepted the offered hand and gave it a perfunctory shake. He waited until the man had exited his office then inspected his hand and sleeve for bugs or other nasties. Finding nothing he breathed a sigh of relief. Still, he did not feel at ease. He immediately walked out the door and looked around; the man was nowhere to be seen.

“Put me through to the Steadfast,” he ordered.

Allonso walked out of the office, a bit bitter that he didn't get a tip, but his job was completed. He slipped his hand into the pocket of his coat and walked back to the ship, off to make another delivery.
