Mission: Trouble on the frontier

The transport was in stable orbit and information had been streaming in for hours; it was worse than anyone had thought. There was some Security aboard but the general consensus was that they would set up their first landing site farthest from planetquakes. Soraya and the medical team were on the first shuttle, about to depart the bay.

T'ami stood shoulder to shoulder with her fellow officers, each nervously talking and looking about as they filed into the shuttle. Many were passing around PADDs showing diagnostics and reports from the ground. The Caitian felt a lump growing in her throat that she would have to try very hard to ignore. No sooner had the Shuttle doors closed behind them, they felt a soft lurch as the craft began its departure towards the planet's surface.

'No turning back now,' She thought, giving a wry smile to a Medico next to her.

Contessa smiled back at T'ami and realized beyond her species, she knew nothing about her. Cavanaugh had a feeling with as intense as things were below, that would be rectified soon.

Petty Officer Branklin leant forward. “Don't worry, you'll be alright,” she said in Tami's ear. “First away mission, is it?”

"First warzone." She replied with a heavy tone. She tried another smile to the comforting officers. "Thank you, I'll be okay."

"Did we pack the Triage tent?" Doctor Delrisa said above the din. She and the other doctors were clustered in the front of the shuttle.

"It went in first, Raya, it's with the food and water purifiers," Doctor Chandra said. "No more coffee for you."

The CMO answered him with a mock glare, dropping her PADD to her lap. She looked around and saw Ensign T'ami.

"Feeling nervous?" the doctor asked, her eyes kind.

T'ami gave a small nod, embarassed at the attention of her comrades. "Yes, a little anxious. I'll be fine, though."

The Caitian arched her neck to the right, grabbed her long dark hair and pulled it tightly into a ponytail. She focused her eyes square on the door, game face now on.

Cass had kept this cargo vessel in formation with the Tolstoy where Dr. Delrisa was assigned. This was her show after all. While a good sized ship, it had landing capability which was useful for a trader. It was also more effective than heavily reliance on transporters or shuttles.

After running a few scans and letting his crew of volunteers and staff they arrived, he signaled the Tolstoy, "Trader's Drift to Tolstoy. Is Commander Delrisa available?"

"Delrisa here. How may I help you, Mr. Lincoln?"

"Hey doc. Our landing systems checked out and my staff 'n' crew are securing the cargo as we speak. We've got lots of food, tents, and other emergency basics ready to go. We even have some construction materials to help rebuild," the entrepreneur said.

"Excellent work, Mr. Lincoln!" Soraya replied. The doctors sitting with her smiled at the news as well. "We'll see you in ten minutes, planetside."

"De nada, doc. We're a full service organization after all. See ya on the ground," he said with a bit of a smile. Cass was really rather proud of what he managed to pull together donation wise.

Once the link closed out he started coordinating with the other ships and ground control preparing to land in the best start to unload and help out. It was easy for him to remember that not all profit came from latinum.
