Preparation and Lift Off

Posted on Sat Jan 31st, 2009 @ 4:08am by Lieutenant Michael Lake & Commander Lorran Vos & Captain Jorvin

Mission: Echoes of the Damned: Pilot Episode.
Location: Weapons Locker, Transporter Room
Timeline: Current

Mike strapped a hand phaser to his belt as he looked over to Vos who was doing the same thing "What are we expecting, sir?" he asked, wanting to know if a phaser rifle was needed. He didn't want to appear gung ho, so he decided to wait for someone else to grab a rifle before he did.

Vos situated his hand phaser in place as well as his tricorder on the other side of his hip and a hand lamp at the small of his back. He didn't appear to be going all out. "Trouble, Lieutenant. Growing up in resistance cells taught me to always expect trouble." he smiled as he tucked a small palm phaser into his boot as a backup sidearm, letting Lake see him do it. "On the other hand, we don't want to appear loaded for bear in case all we run into are some frightened colonists. So look sharp. I believe Mr. K'Tan looks intimidating enough for all of us." he joked as he closed and locked the weapons and equipment lockers he'd opened.

Jorvin walked into the weapons locker, being a Marine he was loaded for bear. However the only visible weapon was the assault rifle slung over his right shoulder. He had several hidden weapons as well; a d'k tagh on his belt, a hand phaser in his right boot, several throwing daggers in his left boot, and several grenades hidden in the many pockets of his uniform. Jorvin said "Hello" to the others as he walked in.

Mike smiled at the others, he looked to the rifle and extended his hand, wondering if he should pick it up or not, he let put a sigh and grabbed the weapon, pulling back the small charge panel to reveal the power pack, he let out a small laugh "Saddle up, lock and load... whoops... too late... already loaded the gun... well anyway."

"Put it away, Lieutenant. I said we -don't- want to frighten colonists. Let the marines and the Klingons have their big guns, but we do it the Starfleet way. Talk softly and carry a backup." Vos said, putting a hand on the top of Lake's phaser rifle and pushing it towards the ground gently. "Alright, away team, let's head to transporter room 2."

Mike exhaled in frustration, he wouldn't be too impressed if the team ran into something bad. He reluctantly put the rifle back into the rack he watched the men walk out, still feeling somewhat astonished that Krissy wasn't on the team. He picked up a hand phaser and tricorder and followed the path the men took moments before.

A short time later the away team had gathered on the transporter platform ready to have their molecules scrambled. Vos thought it was almost funny since he had barely gotten to know the Genesis before he was being sent off ship. The life of a first officer, he thought, grinning to himself. He waited until everyone had gotten situated before nodding to the CPO manning the transporter console. "Ready, chief. Energize." he said. Then blue, swirling light obscured his vision as the transporter sequence began.
