Admitting Feelings

Posted on Sun Sep 27th, 2009 @ 11:27am by Lieutenant JG Jasmine Butler & Lieutenant Michael Lake

Mission: Ties To Blood: Season 1, Episode 3.

Jasmine was fiercely jealous; she was almost filled with rage, and filled with enough alcohol to make her tipsy. "How can Mike abandon me like that?" She repeated over and over to herself. She was upset with Mike, and with Leanne, the two people she wanted to trust, suddenly her joy to remain aboard was dulled, and it was killed by a small event that had slightly degraded her; but still she had feelings for the man who took pity on her.
Now she was alone, everyone had gone back to the Genesis, her quarters were off limits; there was only one place to go, and although she didn't really want to go there; it was the one place she could feel safe, without the imagined fear of the threat of a Borg attack that was centred on her.

She got off her seat at the bar and left the Starbase, going across to the Genesis. She wandered the decks until she found a user interface. "Computer, directions to Lieutenant Lake's quarters."

The computer gave a beep and then started giving her some basic directions, and once she had them, she was quick to follow.
Once she arrived at what was hopefully his door, she pressed the doorbell.

::Mike's Quarters::
Mike looked up as soon as the doorbell rang. He sighed and got off the couch, tossing the picture of Stadi and himself in each other's embrace aside and quickly jumped up.
He cautiously moved his finger towards the door panel, he had a feeling that he had done something wrong, without even knowing it, and it was probably some sort of superior. To his surprise and slight discontent when the door opened, he forced a smile to the attractive woman before him.

"Hey, Jasmine." He said.

Jasmine stayed emotionless, her tired, droopy face looked desperately towards him. "Hi, umm... I hate to spring this on you at really late notice, but could I please crash on your couch for tonight."

Mike nodded. "I guess you can." He stepped aside. "Come in."

She stepped forward into the low lit room and gave a small nod. "Mike, I like what you've done your place."

Mike looked around his room. "Thanks." He noticed the large Horga'hn that was sitting on his shelf, he tried to cover it up, but in doing so he attracted Jasmine's attention.

"Is that Horga'hn just for decoration?" She asked with a sheepish smile.

"Uh..." He laughed. "Yeah, yep, mhm, decoration, not for anything else; just decoration." He stopped laughing. "You don't believe me, do you?"

Jasmine shook her head. "No one displays these for decoration, unless they don't know what they mean."

Mike crossed his arms. "You know, I think they look really good."

Jasmine rolled her eyes. "Ok, ok."

Mike changed the subject, and walked across the room. "You can have the bed. The couch is usually really odd to sleep on. I won’t put you through that."

Jasmine smiled. "You are so considerate."

While Mike was off in his bedroom grabbing a pillow and blanket, Jasmine looked around some more, she glanced over his messy workspace, it was littered with PADDs and small devices most of which were pulled apart.
Jas moved along to his couch, and saw the photo that was laying there, she bent over and picked it up and examined it. She saw Mike as she had never seen him, he was relaxed, he was happy. Once she heard Mike's footsteps, she quickly put the photo back onto the couch.

"Ok, you can go straight in there, make yourself at home." Mike said, emerging from the doorway with a large blanket and a pillow.

Jasmine smiled. "Thanks, Mike."

Mike put his blanket and pillow onto the couch and moved the photo.

Jasmine bit her lip. "Who’s that in the photo with you?"

Mike looked back at it. "That's Eline."

"And she is the one who?"

Mike sighed. "Yeah."

"Oh." She played with her hair for a moment.

"Are you alright?" Mike asked.

Jas nodded. "Fine."

"Jasmine, if something is wrong-"

"Mike, what were you doing with Leanne?" She almost shouted.

"Just talking. We needed to catch up." He smiled. "You aren't jealous, are you?"

Jasmine blushed slightly. "No, of course not." She paused. "Well, goodnight."

Mike nodded and threw his legs up onto the couch and laid himself out. He closed his eyes and let out a breath, it was nice to relax for the first time in ages.

"Computer, herbal tea, blend 42." The computer beeped at the command of her soft voice and was followed by the usual sound of a replicator at work. An odd smell immediately filled the room and Mike opened his eyes, jumping off the sofa.

"What are you trying to smoke in here!" He shouted. "I'm not getting implicated in the Starbase's narcotic trade!"

"What? It's just my tea." She said, offering it forward. "Try some."

Mike took the cup and took a small sip; he forced it down his throat, making a sour face and cringing at its scolding heat. "This stuff is poison!"

Jasmine smiled and took the cup back. "You didn't swallow it right." She took another sip and stepped forward and kissed Mike.

When she broke it off, Mike nodded and smiled. "Oh."

Jasmine laughed. "Feel like sharing a bed?"

"I don't know about that." He rubbed his eyes. "Jasmine, we need to stop this."

She raised an eyebrow. "Stop what?"

"This thing with you kissing me constantly." He stated. "Look, Jas, you either want a relationship or not, so what is it?"

Jasmine paused for a moment, then put her arms around Mike's neck. "Maybe we should find out tonight, together."

Mike nodded and leaned in to finally kiss her. “Just tonight.” He whispered.

Jasmine kept kissing Mike for a while until she started taking off his turtleneck.

Mike looked at her. “Not this again.”

Jasmine took off his turtleneck and threw it on the floor. “Has anyone told you that you hit the nail on the head when it comes to killing the romantic flare.”

“Actually, yeah.” He replied, lifting his singlet off.
Jasmine stood in silence for a moment. “So, are you going to make me take off my own clothes?”

Mike sighed, then stepped forward and started unzipping her tunic.

Jasmine leaned forward and kissed his neck.

“Jasmine, I can’t concentrate.” He muttered.

Jasmine stood back and let him take off her turtleneck. She then moved him around and pushed him forward towards his bed. Once she had him only inches away, she seductively chuckled before pushing him over, hopefully onto the bed.

“Whoa! Whoa! Jas!” Mike hit the bed, then bounced off the mattress and onto the floor. “Ouch.”

Jasmine winced for a moment. “Oops.”
She quickly dropped to the floor to help him. “Sorry, are you ok?”

Mike got back up. “I’m fine.” He kissed her again. “And, that’s a spinal injury I need to explain come next physical.” He thought to himself.

“I promise I won’t do that again.” She smiled and got onto the bed, quickly getting under the covers she watched Mike slowly get into the bed with her.

They both got comfortable and then laid on their shoulders, facing each other. “So… how do we start?” Mike asked.

Jasmine got closer and snuggled up to him. “Like this.”
