Mission: Ties To Blood: Season 1, Episode 3.
Location: Starbase 611- Mike Lake's Quarters

"I'm still convinced that your room is bigger than mine." Jasmine joked, after Mike completed his tour of his new abode on the Starbase.

"Our rooms are identical, Jas." Mike stated, trying to clear his nose of the smell of the lobster that had filled his quarters.

"So," She grabbed his arm and tugged on it for a moment. "I'm amazed that you've taken on the challenge of cooking for me. I thought you'd pull out and take me to the mess hall to make me be quiet."

"That offer is still open." Mike gave her a smile and then looked into his lounge room and observed the pot that was cooking the meal. "I am going to stuff this up." He thought to himself, while he kept a brave face on for Jas.

"Don't tell me you're going to become a quitter like half the other boyfriends I've had."

"I wish I could be." He muttered, as he walked away and checked the lobster again.

Jasmine was quick to follow him over and look at the food he was preparing. "Wow, I am surprised." She smiled and put her hand over his, easing the lid in his grasp back onto the lip of the pot. The silent moment almost bought a tear to her eye

Mike gazed deep into her eyes. "You're worried about me, aren't you."

Jasmine gave him a nod. "What's wrong?"

Mike stepped away from her. "Nothing. I'm just tired, I told you that before." He forced a fake smile, but she remained unconvinced. "I'm fine, seriously."

"If something is wrong I'm sure you can talk with Diego-"

"I've had it with shrinks. I had to be ordered to see one last time I had an issue. Not again." He told her.

"Sorry I mentioned it, I know it brings up bad memories." She ignored Mike's need to run away from any type of contact and wrapped her arms around him, closing her eyes and drawing from his warmth. Then the timer went off.

Mike immediately pulled away and pulled the pot from the stove. He was again assaulted by the seafood smell coming from the pot. "Go wash up."

Jasmine gave him a smile and went into his bathroom.

::5 minutes later::
She waited in anticipation as she heard Mike's footsteps. When the plate dropped down before her she was amazed, so much so, her jaw almost dropped. "Wow. You've really outdone yourself." She looked up and saw he didn't have any. "Where's yours?"

"I'm not hungry." He stated fairly plainly.

Jasmine chuckled. "That's a big change." She then lifted her fork and got some of the lobser. She took her bite and chewed. Once she finally swallowed, her eyes lit up. "That is good."

Mike nodded and sighed. "That's a relief."

Jasmine smiled. "There is a life lesson in all of this you know."

"And what is that?" Mike asked.

"I'm still trying to figure it out." She replied quickly.

Mike gave her a smirk. "Trickster."

::15 minutes later::
Once Jasmine had finished everything on her plate, she looked up at Mike again. "You did well," She stood up and gave him a sheepish smile, before wrapping her around around his neck. "So, what do you want to do now?"

"What I'm thinking of would involve some eggs, bacon, a few olives and an ice cube." Mike said sarcastically.

Jasmine laughed. "Kinky!"

Mike kissed her. "I was thinking of throwing caution to the wind with a few bottles."

"I like that idea."

Mike made his way over to his alcohol cabinet. "I've got... well... take your pick..." He looked at all the bottles and couldn't decide.

"How about this," She got a bottle of bourbon. "I know you want it."

"You know I do." He gave her a wink and took it from her hands and getting some glasses. He was quick to pour two and handed one to Jas. "We should do a toast."

Jasmine raised her glass. "To the future?"

"I've got nothing. To the future." He knocked his glass against hers and made the usual clink that was only made when two glasses hit. Then they both too a sip.

Jasmine scrunched up her face. "This is horrible."

Mike almost hit the floor laughing. "Suck it up, Princess Jas."

Jasmine gave him a glare of disapproval. "You are an ass, you are an ass."

Mike smiled. "Dost thou not suspect my place? Dost thou not suspect my years? Oh that he were here to write me down an ass. But masters, remember that I am an ass, though it be not written down, yet forget not that I am an ass. "

"What?" Jasmine frowned.

"Its Shakespeare. Much Ado About Nothing." Mike replied.

"I had rather hear my dog bark at a crow than a man swear he loves me." She winked. "Now, Signior Mikey. Do you have something that will take the edge off this stuff?"

"Computer, cola." He went over to the replicator and picked the glass up. "Now," He took her glass. "Just pour a little in there, and presto." He gave it back.

Jasmine took a sip. "That's a lot better."

"Good. So, I guess you want to get tanked on that now?" Mike asked her.

Jasmine gave him a disapproving look. "I'm going to get 'tanked' on my own time, Michael."

"Fine. Sorry." Mike chuckled at her comeback, before stopping and sitting down on the couch.

Jasmine was quick to follow him on. And waited until he got comfortable before she climbed on top of him and cuddled up to him, gave him a soft kiss and then closed her eyes in his warm embrace.
