Taking Time

Mission: The Futures Past. Season 1, Episode 4.

The two flag officers ducked out into Beverly's old office. Livia demeanor had changed as the entered the office, from one of content happiness, to one of concern. "So I hear the Farragut is set to arrive here soon." She said in a nonchalant manor.

"Yes Sir". The worry over that pending situation began to well within her. She was anxious to see her old friends, and yet in the same token she was terrified. "I ordered the Farragut to change course and head here at best possible speed. I assume that you have heard what the situation is Sir?"

"As one of the heads of Starfleet, I would hope so. Being the only cabinet member in the area, the classified message came to my desk first." She sighed "I just wish this had happened sooner, I'm on my way out the door so theres not a whole lot I can do about this. When the cabinet meets with the President tomorrow, they are going to tap into my transmission log and see that I've received this message. At that point, theres no stopping the rest of Starfleet from finding out."

"What trouble can we expect commandant?"
She had to ask as Beverly knew that she would want to fight to return them to their own time, and the Commandant probably knew this. However if she was to retire then she wouldn't be able to help Beverly fight her corner. Despite what had happened between the two women over the years both had developed a firm and strong friendship.

"Well you can expect the whole of Starfleet's temporal department to come down on you. I heard Jason is working for them now, and you know how he is about policy. I'll do what I can from my end to stall Starfleet, but Bev, you've gotta get them home as soon as possible. If Jason gets here, he won't come alone, and he won't leave without them."

"I'll contact Commander T'Arjia. I'm going to need her and her top temporal experts".
It had been a while since Beverly had spoken with T'Arjia. Things had gone a little sour between then women after T'Arjia's accident.

"Good, we'll need all the help we can get. Beverly, whatever you do, do not let Jason stop you, do not let anyone stop you. They have to get home...at all costs. Thats my final order. What alot of people don't know is that my commission actually ends tonight, so after tonight, I technically have zero pull in starfleet, though only the top echelon know that." While she wanted to help, the cluster that hung off of her neck was weighing her down, and she was growing tired of becoming involved in another major operation.

"I understand Major General", Beverly called her by her title when they had first met. The time when Livia had seemed happiest, the most vibrant and alive. "I'll do everything I can."
