Mission: The Futures Past. Season 1, Episode 4.
Location: Promenade

Captain Damion was making his way back through the prominade gradually when a small figure stepped out and blocked his path. It was a Ferrengi in Starfleet's mustard uniform. He snapped to attention but stood deliberatly blocking the path.

"A moment of your time please, Captain Rayne?"

Damion stoped in his tracks, looking up from a datapad he had his nose buried in. The aracdian's brow furiling in response to being blocked. "Yes Lieutenant, what can I do for you?" he asks the Ferengi.

"Sir, I am Lt Fenex Agriv. I am a graduate of Starfleet class of '82. Since my graduation I have applied to 13 starships for a post as Chief Tactical or Security officer, the latest being the Arcadia. In each case my application has been sumararily dismissed, I suspect because of my race. As an Arcadian, sir, I am sure that you are aware how cultural stereotypes still exist even in a community as forward thinking as the Federation. I am here to ask that you consider my application with the wieghting that is due to any Starfleet graduate. I have served on Ferengi Marauders prior to my application so I have field experience as well."

Fenex stopped. He wanted so desperately for someone to take him seriously but he knew he mustn't flood the Captain. He clamped his mouth shut and waited for the Captain's response. The last three had dismissed his application here to his face.

Damion's head titlted and what looked to be a slight grin would crawl across his chisled old Arcadian face. "Report to Lieutenant Command Waugh aboard Arcadia for assignment and orientation Lieutenant. She is your new Executive Officer." His words that of a true captain. No explination, no /yes/ no /no/. His Ordering should leave no doubt in the young LT's mind and no need for rebutle or thanks. After a slight pause he would speak the word that would tell the young Lt that the captain was done.

"Dissmissed." He says side steping the Lieutenant and continueing about his Promenade walk, loosing himself back inhis work. And no doubt leaving the young Lieutenant standing their flabergasted.

In fact Fenex was. He took a moment to replay what the captain had said in his head and then took off at speed for the docking ring. He didn't even bother to grab his gear from the temporary quarters he had been assigned for the last fourteen months. He could always order it shipped across later.

By the Nagus, he had a posting!
