Mission: The Futures Past. Season 1, Episode 4.
Location: 611 Sickbay
Timeline: Current Timeline

Ever since the news came that Leanne’s runabout had disappeared, Helen had been moving about in a bit of a daze. Even Vrell’s snide comments about that unfortunate morning a week ago were not enough to get a bite out of her today.

A routine shuttle trip in a supposedly now safe quadrant and ‘poof’ they disappear without a trace.

Annabelle had just been called away, leaving Helen and her brusque bedside manner to tend to those waiting in sickbay. She was a researcher not a GP, and every time she had tried to gush nicely to patients it just came out sounding hollow and patronizing.

Then Helen spotted a new face come through the door sporting a flash of teal blue on their uniform – maybe a visiting doctor from one of the ships in dock.

“Can I help you?” Helen asked walking over to the newcomer, glad of the distraction.

"Hello, my name is Dr. Winters. I am supposed to report in for duty," Amber said.

“Doctor Winters?” Helen racked her brain for a moment, trying to remember where she had heard that name before. “Ah yes, our new GP!” Helen gave Amber a warm smile and held out her hand. “I’m Helen Lyons, in charge of Medical Research. I’m sorry about the lack of ceremony…Normally Leanne-” Helen bit down on her words, mention of Leanne’s name just bought her worry quickly back to the surface. After a pause she just said, “Welcome to 611 Medical.”

Talking with the commodore, Amber knew that it has not been a great day. Amber looked at Helen and smiled. "Thank you." Really, she was not sure what else she could say.

“I’ll show you to your office and then give you a quick tour of the medical facilities. Hopefully by that time Doctor Annabelle Brenari, our chief surgeon, will be back and we can both answer any questions that you might have.” Helen turned and began to walk with Amber to her new office.

“The tour probably won’t show you any thing you haven’t seen before but it is nice to see just where all the various medical sections are located. And once Annabelle is back, she will be able to get you up to speed with the current patient case load.”

"Is there any section that you would like to view first?"

"Not really," said Amber "This place is all new to me. For a while, I will probably get lost here." She did this all with a smile.

“Okay. How about we start here in the main sickbay and then I’ll show you around the research labs and the theatre suites and then if Annabelle is not back by then we might consider going to grab a bite to eat for lunch. How does that sound?” The mention of lunch reminded Helen’s stomach that she had skipped breakfast and it rumbled accordingly.

'Sounds good." Amber heard Helen's stomach rumble. "Are you sure you want to show me around first? I think you're stomach wants food first," said Amber with a smile.

“Food first it is then. Just let me tell Brian where we’ll be.” Helen briefly left the office and then appeared again at the door. “Let’s go to the Promenade, we can get something decent to eat and it will give you a chance to have a look around what some people consider the best part of the Starbase.”
