Insecurities

Mission: Removing The Blindfold. Season 1 Episode 5
Location: Security Office

Linom Dekur stalked through the station like a man on a mission. He was still rather unfamiliar with its enormous layout, but he was quickly becoming familiar. He'd memorized enough of it sufficiently that when he needed something accomplished, he knew how to find the person to accomplish it.

Marching around a corner, two crewmen jumped out of the path of the looming Cardassian. He spotted the office he was searching for quickly and made it way over to it, entering without warning.

Cailyn was just back in her office from her call to escort Mason to the McArthur. Now she was almost scared to death from a Cardassian who didn't know how to call.

"You know there is a chime on the door," Cailyn said. "Next time use it."

Linom ignored the snide remark and leaned heavily over the desk. "Are you in command here?"

"As long as lieutenant Mason is on the MacArthur, yes I am," Cilyn said as she looked at the Cardassian. "Is something wrong?"

"Your security arrangements for the reactor facilities are completely inappropriate," he shot at her, standing once more to his full height. "With this new conflict, even the slight increase in security personnel in the critical operations sections are woefully inadequate to properly ensuring the safety of my facilities and personnel."

Cailyn lowered her work and rubbed her eyes.

"Look I just got here," Cailyn said, "I'm just reading the first in a series of reports." Cailyn pointed at a stack of PADD at the end of the table. "Now if you don't mind and tell me nicely what the hell is going on."

"What is going on," Dekur stated deliberately, stressing every syllable, "is that the operations sections of the station - particularly the primary and secondary reactor facilities, as well as Operations Control - are extremely understaffed in terms of security personnel. If this station were to come under assault, you may live to regret failing to keep a running battle from those areas, but I would have my doubts."

"Trust me I regret alot." Cailyn said as she started to dig in the pile off PADD's. After a few minutes she found what she was looking for. "Here is a report that Lieutenant Mason was working on," she said as she handed it over. "It looks like that you will have your personal at the end off the week."

Dekur took the PADD and looked over the contents. Quirking an eyebrow, he tossed it back upon her desk. "You call THIS," he asked, indicating the PADD, "reinforced? A squad of well trained troops would cut through such a force like a plasma torch through brittle duranium."

"A squad of well trained troops with the right equipment can cut through anything." Cailyn said as she laid the PADD onto another pile. "This is what I've got at this moment, and that is what I can do. If you don't like it talk to the captain."

Dekur snorted at her apparent indifference. Coming to the conclusion that she could not care enough to be bothered with, Linom turned on his heal sharply and marched from the room. The discussion wasn't over. Not by any means.
