Mission: Removing The Blindfold. Season 1 Episode 5
Location: Es'lon Quarters.
Timeline: backpost (before Girls Night Out)

Es'lon was fast asleep strange images floated through his sleep but like always the images stayed resolutely at the back of his conscience mind so in the morning when he woke up he wouldn't remember a single thing of what he dreamed about.

Tonight though a strange bleeping noise kept echoing through his head, the noise wouldn't let up and finally he was dragged reluctantly to wakefulness. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes he pressed a control on the near by bedside table to bring up the time, see what the time was he groaned for those used to serving on Gamma shift this was practical the middle of the night.

Still the noise didn't stop and now he could work out that it was actually the door chime, pulling himself out of his comfy bed he donned a robe kept close by before heading into the living quarters "Enter".

Leanne stood outside, this was the first time that she was going to ask someone to ask someone to go to war. A war that she didn't necessarily agree with but one that she had been asked to serve in. Stepping into Es'lon's quarters, she looked around and quickly took in the surroundings and the large Caitain that was now standing in front of her.

"Hello Lieutenant, I'm sorry to bother you at this time, usually I would wait to your duty shift but Star Fleet has different plans." she handed a data padd over to him that contained information about the coming action. "Have you heard any of the rumors about war?"

Still some what blurry eyed from sleep Es'lon stared at the padd trying to make sense of it when the Commanders question finally filtered through "What war?"

"They've kept it pretty hush until now, but there has been a massive build up of forces on the border with the Gorn, near Cestus, reports are that they are allied with the Tholians and a breakaway faction of the Cardassians." She tried not to look nervous while explaining all of this but it was gnawing her from the inside out. "Star Fleet has ordered a contingent of ships from 611, including the Hope to the Cestus sector in order to help in anyway we can, though I don't know ho much good we can do."

Es'lon was still going over the information on the padd it basically boiled down to the fact that he was to serve as the Chief of Security and Tactical officer on the Hope.

"When are we scheduled to depart?" Es'lon looked up at the Commander again, now very conscious of his poster he straitened up and started to hold himself in a more military like manner, almost as if he was on parade for inspection.

"In the morning, now, I know it looks as if this is an an order but it is a volunteer basis, with the hope being a medical ship, we are probably in one of the more dangerous posts of the armada." Leanne had a bit of a frown on her face. "If you don't want to take this assignment, I understand and will not be held against you at all."

"Mame I signed up with Starfleet to find a purpose and they gave me that purpose in security, you can rely on me keep everyone safe" Es'lon said it with such conviction it was hard to doubt that it would be any other way.

"Sounds good." Leanne smiled at the officer. "I'm glad that I have you on board, be ready to leave at 0800. Any questions?"

"No thank you mame, I'll be ready on the Bridge before 0730" Es'lon was sure to show the Commander the proper respect as she left his quarters, now wide awake but already reassigned to the to Alpha shift he debated what to do. In the end he decided to spend a few hours going over previous combat records relating to the Gorn and Tholians before booking time in a holodeck to exercise and hopefully get his inner body clock set to the new rhythm.
