Livia caught Beverly after the briefing and pulled her to the side "Hey stranger, long time no see?"

Without really stopping, in one fluid motion, Beverly climbed out of her chair and scooped the ex-General into a hug. It was nice to see that someone other than Vos, Krissy and Leanne would be staying with the station long term now that she was departing.
"Its good to see you again!"

Livia smiled as she returned the hug "Indeed it is. When I took this job, they didn't tell me where I was going to be stationed at first, but once I found out I would end up here, I can't tell you how excited I was." She motioned to the doorway "Walk with me for a few, we need to catch up. I've read the reports and heard the stories, but I want to hear it from you. How did you all make it out of Cestus alive?"

Beverly tried to mask her upset, and wasn't entirely successful. "It was a brutal battle. Who ever said that Gorn were an unsophisticated, backwater, under educated brutish race were wrong. They are much words than that".
Beverly took a moment, remembering the incident on the bridge. All except herself and one other officer hand been taken down. Cailyn, the young Trill women who had been so firm in carrying out her duty had been taken down in the first assault of the bridge. Zeek who had jumped to her rescue had lost one of his arms, and finally Jenkins. This hurt the most, although she couldn't admit it. Jenkins was within a breath of loosing his life and all else had escaped her in that moment. Somehow the young Ensign had managed to steer the dying Genesis out of the combat while being covered by two other ships.
"I honestly don't know how we survived!", but she could still feel the sensation of Jenkins warm blood on her hands.

Livia knew there was much more to it than that, but she left it alone. "I see...well anyways I'm glad you did. I hate the fact that I couldn't be involved. But I've got other responsibilities now, and hopefully I'll be able to help strengthen the relationship between the Federation and the Klingons. If not, then I'll be the first one to fight." She said with a wink.

"I have no doubt", Beverly cast away the dark thoughts that were coursing through her mind and focused on the lighter mood that Livia was trying to generate.
"One thing General.... Livia.... Its going to take a while to get used to that", now Beverly chuckled. "Command would like the local diplomatic envoy to review a list of Romulan envoys and attempt to negotiate with them to have a permanent presence on the station... Feel up to that?"

Beverly handed the new Ambassador a data chip containing all the lists of known Romulan Ambassadors that starfleet assumed we would be able to work with. It was time to try and strengthen ties with the Romulans as well as the Klingon's given the level of tension between the Federation and the Gorn/Tholian Alliance.

"Yes Ma'am." Livia said with a wink "Not a big fan of Romulans, but I'll put on my diplomatic hat and give it a try." The two continued to walk "So this Lieutenant Mason you have here, I keep seeing her name in reference to Klingon complaints. Anything you feel like sharing?"

Now it was the Commodores turn to wince, thinking back to the warning signs. She had often wondered since finding out about the events if bringing Krissy to the station had been the right decision. Still, what was done was done.
"Kristina Mason... How do you tame a bird like Mason? She's landed herself in some hot water. I believe JAG are getting involved. Problem we have is there is only one JAG officer assigned to the station. We have no defense Officer!"

"Well actually you do. Since this involves another government, I should be involved, especially at her defense. She is a Federation citizen, and charges based on another governments claims require my assistance."

This was a welcomed turn up for the books. So far anyone who Beverly had approached about the case had laughed or on fewer occasions even said that she deserved everything she got.
"That would be a welcomed respite General. Would you like me to set up a meeting for you with Lieutenant Mason?"

"Please do. I'd like to get her side of the story, and give her a few pointers in how not to piss off a Klingon." Since she was no longer in Starfleet, it was time to take on more of a mentor role with the officers on 611.

A small smile tugged at Beverly's lips, "Thank you General". Both women rounded a corner and found themselves entering the Promenade which was still under repair, but almost back to its usual level of pedestrian traffic.
"Now if you'll excuse me, I need to report to me ship which should be arriving!"

"You take care of yourself, I'll try to keep these kids in line as best I can." Livia replied

"I appreciate it", Beverly extended her hand to shake the other womens, and heartily so. "Congratulations on your new role... Ambassador. I hope this works out better than the other!"
again she smiled and then bowed her exit leaving the Ambassador in her new home.

Livia stood there for a moment, observing her surroundings. She was indeed in uncharted territory, but as always, she would survive.
