Mission: Plotting New Courses. Season 1, Episode 7
Location: Marine Headquarters, Exeter, England, Earth
Timeline: Several Hours before "The Offer"

David stepped off the transporter into the small room deep within the Marine General Headquarters. He'd only been here a few times in his long career and still didn't like it much. Far too many old people, sitting at desks barking orders blindly. Some of them hadn't lifted a rifle in decades, yet somehow knew exactly what it was like to still be on the front lines against the new weapons and enemies out there.

Naturally he'd likely have to talk to some General about the destruction of 611 before being sent somewhere else.

Stepping out of the door he was suddenly assaulted by a blur of red.

"David! Thank goodness you're okay!" Helen cried as she threw her arms around his neck and kissed him. "I was getting worried, especially after I heard the station was destroyed. Why didn't you call?" she added rather angrily.

"I missed you too, but it was a bit difficult to get comm space; an important station did just get blown up," he replied. Helen wasn't particularly impressed by the flatness with which he said it, but she was used to it. And all that really mattered was that he was safe.

They were ushered away from the transporter as more Marines were transported down to be housed until new assignments were given out. David didn't know if the Detachment would be broken up or remain intact and simply be sent somewhere new.

A young man handed David and PADD with a message on it. He frowned at being invited to a Command Briefing from 611's XO. While technically a member of the Senior Staff, David didn't really see how his input would be considered. Marines deferred to Fleet when it came to orders from same rank or higher when serving on a Fleet ship or installation. But, it seemed that he would be required to attend. Perhaps there would be an investigation into what happened and this was them being informed of it.

Whatever it was, he had a few hours to spend with Helen before he was required to be at Starfleet Command.
