Mission: Echoes of the Damned: Pilot Episode.
Location: Genesis Sickbay

CPO Brian Keys had finished up taking care most of the medical emergencies on the Genesis, a lot of the crew that had been left to keep the ship running where really banged up. Many had received injuries from plasma conduits exploding, bumps, bruises, black eyes, and a few deaths. It was almost to much for him, he joined Starfleet medical to pick up hot nurses, not to actually have to deal with injured people and assign toe tags. Brian needed to swing past sickbay to see how that had fared but first he needed a drink. He slowly trudged to his quarters while dodging pieces of corridor and panels that had fallen off the wall. Up three Jefferies tubes, down a corridor and then finally around a corner he pushed the chime on the door and walked it.

Brian dug through some of his belongings and produced a small bottle with blue colored liqued, Brian popped the top and took a whiff of the liquid then put it to his lips. His eyes rolled up into the back of his head when he took the first long drag off the bottle. "I better go check on her tests... If she's still alive I don't want to get demoted..." he took bottle with him down to sick bay.

As he opened the door to sickbay, nothing could have prepared him for the sight that laid before him. The "experiments" that Dr. Ulonova had left him in the charge had grown all over sickbay. He wasn't sure exactly what kind of plant it was but the containment field that had been preventing it from growing had been knocked out and within a few hours had taken root in sickbay. He wasn't really paying attention to her when she told him what it actually was, or why she was studying it, the only thing he remembered was her threat of injury if she came back and anything had happened to it. Brian walked into the room and stepped over a massive vine that had to of been a foot and a half in diameter. Some of the vines had already begun to flower and the entire sickbay smelled like rotting meat.

Keys looked around at the jungle that used to be sickbay and took a long drag on his bottle. "how am I ever going to get this cleaned up." he walked over to Leanne's office and started digging through her desk looking something. Checking the last drawer he found what he was looking for. Underneath a medical text book he found a small container that we quickly opened up. Inside where a few cigarettes that, he grabbed one and put it back in the bottom of the drawer and lit it with the lighter that was next to the box.

The petty officer sat down in the doctors chair and leaned back, blowing a smoke ring up and started to think of ways to get rid of the vines. "Hmmm... a phaser would probably cut the vines pretty well." he stood up, jumped over a large vine that he could see growing and and headed to the weapons locker. Brian grabbed one of the phaser rifles and aimed it at what appeared to be the source of the plant. The cigarette was still hanging from his mouth as he yelled at the top of his lungs, "SEND ME A LETTER FROM HELL YOU BASTARD!" a stream of phaser fire ripped across the sickbay towards the plant which incinerated it, the container it was sitting in, part of the counter and burned a neat round hole in the wall behind it. He stood slack jawed for a moment as the cigarette fell from his mouth and he slowly started to chuckle, which turned into a giggle and then a laugh and then full blown hysteria. He leaned down and picked up the still burning cigarette and took a drag off of it.

"This is going to be fun to try and explain when she gets back." Brian continued, albeit at a much lower setting destroying most of the vines that had taken over sickbay. After a few hours the space was somewhat back to normal, sans the burn marks on the walls, floor, and parts of the ceiling as well as plant debris that hadn't burned up. He put the rifle back in the closet and headed towards his room, trying to come up with a good excuse for the destruction in the general sickbay area.
